An Update from Bowery around COVID-19

Dear Bowery Farming Communities and Beyond

Dear Bowery Farming Communities and Beyond:

As our cities and country work together during this unprecedented time, I wanted to take a moment to share an update from Bowery as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve. As always, Bowery is committed to increasing access to safe produce, and we are working tirelessly with local retail and nonprofit partners to help keep their shelves stocked with fresh food.

No matter what, the health and well-being of our employees and communities remain our top priorities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is currently no evidence to support that transmission of COVID-19 is associated with food. However, given the gravity of the situation, Bowery is voluntarily taking further measures to increase our already-robust food safety protocols to include even more frequent cleaning and sanitization in our farms, as well as continued reinforcement of food safety best practices among our farmers.

We also know the economic consequences of COVID-19 could have a very real impact in the communities in which we operate. To this end, we are committed to furthering support for our nonprofit partners including Table to Table in New Jersey, and the Maryland Food Bank by providing produce to those that need it most.

I want to personally thank our Bowery farmers and the rest of our team at the farms and in the field at this moment. We have a large number of people across New York, New Jersey, and Maryland who are showing up every day during this critical time to take care of our farms, our plants, our customers, and each other. Their selfless work ensures that we can provide a continuous supply of fresh and safe produce to our communities.

These are uncharted waters, but we have a deep belief at Bowery that through adversity emerges the opportunity to come together, to take care of each other, and to be better for it.

We wish you and your family strength and good health as we all move through the coming weeks together.
